ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota Wild left wing Andrew Brunette will have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right knee.
Despite the torn anterior cruciate ligament, Brunette still managed to play the final three months of the season. The surgery is set for Thursday.
Brunette sat out only twice all season, ending his consecutive games streak at 509 – the NHL’s longest current run. He was first hurt in a game in January, but skated with a brace on the knee and finished with 22 goals and 28 assists.
Brunette said Monday he hopes to be ready for training camp in September. He signed a $7 million, three-year contract with Minnesota last summer.
