RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Hurricanes activated center Matt Cullen from injured reserve before Wednesday night’s game against last-place Tampa Bay.
He became the third player the Hurricanes have activated in the past two days, joining forwards Justin Williams and Ray Whitney. Cullen missed the past seven games with a head injury.
Cullen has 13 goals and 36 assists for the Hurricanes this season.
Carolina faces a must-win situation for the rest of the regular season because its once-substantial Southeast Division lead over Washington has been reduced to a tie in which the Hurricanes hold the tiebreaker advantage. After the game against Tampa Bay, Carolina wraps up the regular season at home against Florida.
