TORONTO (AP) -NHL executive Jim Gregory had a heart attack in the league’s Toronto office and is in critical condition.
The 73-year-old Gregory, a Hockey Hall of Fame member and the league’s senior vice president of hockey operations, was stricken Thursday, according to the NHL’s Web site. He is in intensive care at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
Gregory was inducted into the hockey hall as a builder in 2007 after spending more than five decades in professional hockey. He has served as chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s selection committee since 1998.
His first NHL job was as a scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He later served as the team’s general manager from 1969- 79. He has since held various jobs with the league, spending seven years as the director of central scouting before moving to the hockey operations department.
