DALLAS (AP) -The Dallas Stars have acquired forward Brad Richards and goalie Johan Holmqvist from Tampa Bay for goalie Mike Smith, forwards Jussi Jokinen and Jeff Halpern, and a draft pick.
Tuesday's deal, completed hours before the trading deadline, was highlighted by Richards, the Lightning's fourth-leading scorer with 51 points (18 goals, 33 assists) in 62 games.
Holmqvist was the starter in Tampa Bay but will back up the Stars' Marty Turco. Smith challenged Turco as Dallas' starter earlier in the season but ultimately made just 21 starts to 47 for Turco.
Jokinen has 28 points in 52 games, and Halpern has 24 points in 64 games.
