BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Sabres goalie Ryan Miller limped off the ice favoring his left leg after being upended by Rangers forward Scott Gomez early in the third period of Buffalo’s game against New York on Saturday night.
Miller was hurt 1:54 into the period as he was trying to play the puck behind his net during a Rangers’ power play. With his back to the play, Miller was upended when Gomez crashed into the goalie’s right leg, sending Miller tumbling into the boards.
Having difficulty standing up, Miller crawled back into his crease on his pads before play was stopped.
Miller, who had stopped all 20 shots he faced, remained on his knees as he was attended to by a Sabres trainer before leaving the game. He had difficulty putting any weight on his left leg as he limped up the tunnel to the locker room.
The Sabres had no immediate update on Miller’s status.
Patrick Lalime took over and immediately gave up a goal on the first shot he faced, when Gomez set up Markus Naslund in front to cut Buffalo’s lead to 3-1.
