ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota Wild left wing Andrew Brunette’s consecutive games played streak is in jeopardy again.
Brunette sustained a lower-body injury Thursday night in the first period of Minnesota’s overtime loss to Calgary. He has played 509 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the NHL.
Assistant general manager Tom Lynn said Brunette will try to play Saturday, declaring his status as “possible” to face Detroit. The 35-year-old winger didn’t practice Friday.
Brunette has 13 goals and 19 assists in 56 games. He was first hurt, apparently spraining his right knee, in a collision against Anaheim on Jan. 17. But he bounced back in time to suit up in the next game two days later.
