DALLAS (AP) Dallas’ Tyler Seguin scored twice during a four-goal second period and the Stars held off Washington 4-3 in Sunday’s battle between the respective NHL Conference leaders.
The victory moved the Stars equal top of the Central Division and Eastern Conference standings with Chicago, though Dallas has played three games less. The Blackhawks lost at home in overtime against Anaheim.
Among the other key results, Atlantic Division leader Florida was thrashed on home ice by Nashville, and Carolina scored five times in the second period to overwhelm the New York Islanders.
Dallas’ Seguin has 30 goals this season. Jamie Benn scored his 29th, and rookie Mattias Janmark started the scoring for the Stars.
Alex Ovechkin scored his league-leading 35th goal of the season while Justin Williams and Andre Burakovsky also netted for the Capitals, who scored all their goals in the third period to almost match Dallas’ four-goal burst in the second.
Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf scored a power-play goal at 2:16 of overtime to give the Ducks a 3-2 win at Chicago.
Cam Fowler’s shot was stopped by Corey Crawford, but Getzlaf poked the rebound under the sliding goaltender.
Jakob Silfverberg and David Perron scored in the third period for Anaheim, which took partial revenge for having lost in overtime to Chicago the previous two times they met this season.
Defenseman Brent Seabrook scored both goals for Chicago, which has dropped three in a row.

Carolina’s Victor Rask scored twice to cap a five-goal second period that lifted the Hurricanes over the Islanders 6-3.
Riley Nash, Noah Hanifin, Kris Versteeg, and Andrej Nestrasil also scored for Carolina, which was celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its 2006 Stanley Cup season.
John Tavares got New York on the scoreboard with his team-leading 21st goal while Nick Leddy and Matt Martin also scored.
Boston won 4-2 at Minnesota, which proved the last straw for Wild coach Mike Yeo, who was fired shortly after the game.
The Wild have lost 13 of their past 14 and are winless in eight straight home games, tying a franchise record worst.
John Torchetti was promoted from Minnesota’s Iowa affiliate in the American Hockey League as interim coach.
David Krejci broke a tie in the second period, Jonas Gustavsson made 31 saves, and Brad Marchand, Loui Eriksson and Zdeno Chara also scored for Boston. Marchand has scored in six straight games and has 12 goals in as many games.

New Jersey’s Adam Henrique scored on a power play 2:58 into overtime to lift the Devils to a 2-1 win at Philadelphia.
