NEW YORK (AP) -Alexander Semin, Washington’s fourth-leading scorer, sat out Wednesday night when the Capitals faced the New York Rangers because of an undisclosed injury.
Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau declined to say what was bothering the 24-year-old left winger, but called the injury minor and said he expected Semin to be back in the lineup Saturday when Washington visits Tampa Bay.
Semin, who has 20 goals and 26 assists in 36 games, was injured during practice on Monday. He has missed 19 games this season.
Jay Beagle was recalled from Hershey (AHL) and made his NHL debut in place of Semin.
