DALLAS (AP) -Dallas Stars right wing Krys Barch agreed Monday to a two-year, $1.15 million contract extension through 2009-10.
Barch will make $575,000 in each of the next two seasons after his current contract expires.
The 27-year-old enforcer is second on the Stars with 78 penalty minutes in 34 games this season. He has a goal and two assists. As a rookie last season, Barch racked up 107 penalty minutes in just 26 games, but also had three goals and two assists.
“He is a hard-nosed player who plays with an edge and gives us everything he has each shift,” co-general manager Les Jackson said.
Barch was a minor league journeyman for seven seasons after getting drafted by Washington in 1998. He signed with the Stars as a free agent in 2006.
