BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Defenseman Mike Weber was recalled from the minors by the Buffalo Sabres on Monday to bolster their injury-depleted blue line.
Called up from AHL Portland, Weber was expected to join the Sabres for their game at Anaheim later Monday as Buffalo was set to finish a six-game road trip. Weber returned to the Portland lineup just last week after missing 10 games with a knee injury.
The Sabres are down four regular defenseman, including Jaroslav Spacek, who was not expected to play against the Ducks after hurting his hip in a 2-0 win at Phoenix on Saturday.
Weber didn’t register a point in two games with the Sabres earlier this season. He had a goal and five assists in 37 games with Portland.
