TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Lightning backup goalie Olaf Kolzig was scheduled to have what was expected to be season-ending surgery Saturday on his left forearm.
Kolzig has a distal biceps tendon rupture, which normally has a three-to-four month recovery period. He hasn’t played since beating Montreal on Dec. 11.
The 38-year-old goalie is 21st on the career victory list with 303. He signed with Tampa Bay as free agent in July after 16 seasons with Washington. He’s 2-4-1 with a 3.66 goals-against-average in eight games this season.
