COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Columbus Blue Jackets waited through a player lockout and two long years to finally host the NHL All-Star Game.
Now one of the showcase events of the sport will share the stage with college football.
Ohio State, which dominates the attention of fans and media in the city if not the state, also will host a celebration of its football national championship on what will be a very busy weekend in Ohio’s capital city.
Hockey’s top players will be on hand on Friday night for a player draft, Saturday’s skills competition and Sunday’s likely high-scoring affair at Nationwide Arena. Thousands of visitors and viewers are expected.
Coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes will be honored on Saturday morning at Ohio Stadium before another huge crowd.
