WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) -Winnipeg police say they are investigating the criminal complaint filed by former NHL star Theo Fleury against his junior hockey coach.
Police say they are looking into the allegations of sexual assault that allegedly took place in the 1980s.
Fleury said in his recently released autobiography that former coach Graham James sexually abused him repeatedly when he was a young player.
The longtime Calgary Flames star announced Thursday on his Web site that he was filing a complaint against James.
Police say the investigation will involve other law agencies outside Manitoba and in the United States.
Fleury’s NHL career was derailed by drugs and alcohol. He tried to come back at age 41 with the Flames in training camp last fall but was cut.
