BOSTON (AP) -Boston Bruins forward Marco Sturm could miss the rest of the season because of a left knee injury.
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said Sturm will undergo left knee surgery on Tuesday to repair meniscus and possibly the anterior cruciate ligament.
Sturm hurt the knee Dec. 18 against Toronto in his first game back after a 12-game absence because concussion-like symptoms.
Sturm has seven goals and six assists in 19 games this season.
In addition to the absence of Sturm, the Bruins are also dealing with the loss of another one of their top forwards in Patrice Bergeron who is out with a concussion.
The 30-year-old Sturm is in his 11th season. He scored 27 goals in each of the past two seasons.
