-Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Ducks, made 28 saves for his 27th career shutout in Anaheim's 5-0 victory over Toronto.
-Stu Barnes, Stars, scored a go-ahead, short-handed goal with 6:04 left in the third period, and Dallas defeated Chicago 3-1.

800 CLUB
Colorado coach Joel Quenneville coached his 800th game when the Avalanche lost to the Capitals 2-1 on Wednesday night. Quenneville is one of three to coach and play 800 NHL games.

STREAKING
The Anaheim Ducks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0 on Wednesday night for their season-high fifth straight home victory.

SLUMPING
Chicago fell to 0-5-2 in its last seven games after a 3-1 defeat to Dallas on Wednesday night.

LOCKED UP
Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood, off to a fast start this season, has signed a three-year extension with the team. The 35-year-old Osgood leads the NHL in both goals-against average (1.68) and save percentage (.932), and has a 19-2-1 record in 22 appearances.
