Hurricanes secure OT win
Carolina earned a 5-4 overtime win Saturday at Minnesota as Sebastian Aho scored his fourth goal of the season in the extra session. It was the second goal of the game for Aho and he also dished out two assists. Justin Williams contributed a goal and an assist, while Brett Pesce had a goal and an assist. Jordan Staal also recorded a goal in the win. Teuvo Teravainen and Justin Faulk each registered two assists. Curtis McElhinney made 19 saves on 23 shots to pick up the victory.
Jets shut out at Predators
Winnipeg was held without a goal Thursday night in a 3-0 loss at Nashville in a rematch of an exciting Western Conference Semifinals series from a year ago. Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien were all minus-3 in the loss. Wheeler and Ben Chiarot each recorded a team-best four shots on goal. Connor Hellebuyck allowed three goals on 30 shots to take the loss.
NHL Betting Trends
Carolina
The Hurricanes have won four games in a row. Carolina is 28-13-3 in its last 44 meetings in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg
The Jets are 0-5 in their last five games versus a team with a winning percentage above. .600. The home team is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
Prediction:
Winnipeg is the more rested team and frankly the better team despite Carolina’s strong start to the season. Maybe the Hurricanes will continue to surprise this year, but right now they are on a back-to-back and due for a loss. Winnipeg is tough to beat on its home ice and I don’t see an upset happening here.
