Stars interested in signing Johnny Oduya?
DALLAS, TX (The Spread) – The Stars reportedly have interest in Blackhawks’ Johnny Oduya according to the Dallas Morning News.
From Mike Heika on Twitter: “Dallas Stars among the teams in on UFA defenseman Johnny Oduya, who could make his decision today.” The Buffalo News also reported last weekend that Oduya is a top target for the Sabres.
Oduya’s agent says that the 33-year-old is currently weighing his options but it’s unlikely that he’ll return to Chicago. The Blackhawks acquired Trevor Daley in the deal that sent Patrick Sharp to the Stars, so the team’s defense has suddenly gotten more crowded. The Hawks have slightly less than $1 million in cap space so they would have to make another move before bringing Oduya back.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Blackhawks are 6/1 favorites to win the 2016 Stanley Cup while the Stars are 25/1 and the Sabres are 100/1.
