Maple Leafs sign Nazem Kadri
TORONTO, CANADA (The Spread) – The Maple Leafs have signed forward Nazem Kadri to a one-year contract.
Financial terms have yet to be released but Sportsnet reports that Kadri will receive $4.1 million. The 24-year-old had 18 goals and 39 points in 73 games for the Maple Leafs last season and was a restricted free agent before signing the one-year deal. He was the seventh pick in the 2009 NHL Draft.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Maple Leafs are 100/1 long shots to win the 2016 Stanley Cup while the defending champion Blackhawks are 13/2. The Ducks are 8/1, the Lightning are 9/1 and the Rangers are 10/1.
Kadri will attempt to post more consistent production under new coach Mike Babcock so that he can secure a long-term contract following the 2015-16 season.
