Capitals land T.J. Oshie from Blues
WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Spread) – The Capitals are now 16/1 to win the 2016 Stanley Cup after trading for former Blue T.J. Oshie.
In exchange for Oshie, Washington traded Troy Brouwer, Pheonix Copley and a 2016 third-round pick to St. Louis. Oshie had 19 goals and 55 points in 72 games last year for the Blues, which was the third time in four years that he surpassed the 50-point mark. He struggled again in the postseason, but he still has some untapped potential.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Capitals are 16/1 to win next year’s Stanley Cup after acquiring Oshie and Justin Williams this offseason. With those two moves, Washington has improved its right side, at least on paper.
As for the Blues, they’re now 14/1 to win the Stanley Cup after trading Oshie, who had been one of their core pieces over the last few years. But following another disappointing finish in the playoffs last year, the locker room clearly needed a shake up and GM Doug Armstrong likely isn’t finished making moves this offseason.
