The featured series in the Western Conference has the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks taking on the seventh-seeded Detroit Red Wings. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Blackhawks are the favorite in this rivalry matchup, as Chicago has a money line of -320 to win, while the Red Wings have been given a money line of -320 to win. The Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild in five to reach the second round while the Red Wings disposed of the Anaheim Ducks in seven games. During the season, these two teams met four times and Chicago won all four meetings, though three of the meetings went to overtime.
The featured series in the Eastern Conference has the top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins taking on the seventh-seeded Ottawa Senators. According to oddsmakers, the Penguins are the favorite to win this series, as they have odds of -280 to win, while the Senators have been given odds of +220 to win. The Penguins beat the New York Islanders in six games to reach the second round while the Senators beat the Montreal Canadiens in five games. These two teams met three times during the season, and the Penguins won all three meetings, with two of the wins coming by at least two goals.
