Blue Jackets fall short in Game 1
Columbus lost for only the second time in its last 13 games Thursday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals as it fell 3-2 in overtime at Boston. The Blue Jackets trailed 1-0 through two periods, but tied it up with 12:21 remaining in the third period on a Brandon Dubinsky goal assisted by Riley Nash and Seth Jones. Only 13 seconds later, Columbus went ahead 2-1 on a Pierre-Luc Dubois goal off assists from Artemi Panarin and Jones. Boston proceeded to tie it up later in the third before winning it in overtime. Sergei Bobrovsky registered 34 saves on 37 shots in the winning effort.
Coyle stars in OT win
Charlie Coyle scored the game-tying and game-winning goals Thursday night as Boston won Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals by a count of 3-2 in overtime at home over Columbus. The Bruins grabbed a 1-0 advantage midway through the first period on a Noel Acciari goal with an assist courtesy of Charlie McAvoy. Boston continued to lead through 40 minutes, but the Blue Jackets scored twice in a 13-second span in the third period to grab the lead. Coyle evened it at 2-2 with 4:35 remaining on a goal assisted by Marcus Johansson and Torey Krug. At the 14:45 mark of overtime, Coyle scored the winning goal with Johansson and Danton Heinen notching assists. Tuukka Rask had 20 saves on 22 shots to post the win.

Prediction:
Boston is arguably the favorite to win the Stanley Cup right now, but as we’ve seen this postseason has been bonkers and shown the parity of the NHL as a whole. I’m going to say Bobrovsky stands on his head tonight and someone like Panarin steps forward with a big goal as the Blue Jackets win a close one to even up the series. With how red-hot Columbus has been over the last month, I think there is a lot of value here on the underdog.
