GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – With three touchdowns in the Packers’ blowout victory over the New York Giants, fullback John Kuhn is on the track to folk hero status in Green Bay.
Every time he touches the ball, Lambeau Field fans growl “Kuuuuuuhn!”
Unheralded after leaving Division II Shippensburg as the school’s career leading rusher, Kuhn started on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad in 2005 and joined the Packers in 2007.
After a season-ending injury to Ryan Grant in Week 1 this season, Kuhn steadily has worked his way into the Packers’ running back rotation. Going into Sunday’s critical game against division rival Chicago with the playoffs on the line, Packers coach Mike McCarthy calls Kuhn a “tough guy” who has become one of the team’s leaders.
