CHICAGO (AP) -The Minnesota Vikings held nose tackle Pat Williams out of Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears because of an elbow injury.
At 37, the Vikings’ second-oldest player behind Brett Favre, Williams has 44 tackles and two sacks in 14 games.
Jimmy Kennedy started in his place.
Chicago receiver Devin Hester missed his third straight game with a strained left calf, and safeties Kevin Payne (ankle) and Al Afalava (knee) were also inactive. Punter Brad Maynard, who was questionable with a left groin injury, was active after the Bears signed Richmond McGee to a two-year contract earlier in the day as insurance. Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye went on injured reserve with a broken left leg.
