FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots win that clinched a first-round playoff bye left plenty of room for improvement,
Coach Bill Belichick says the team didn’t execute very well in any part of the 17-16 win over the lowly New York Jets on Sunday.
Tom Brady was sacked four times and had a poorer passer rating than Geno Smith. The Patriots gained just 52 yards in the first half. And it took a late surge to eke out a one-point win over one of the NFL’s worst teams.
The Patriots wrap up their regular season at home against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday. New England has won 21 of the past 22 meetings and the last 13 in Foxborough.
