SAN DIEGO (AP) -Outside linebacker Shaun Phillips says there won’t be any Christmas pleasantries exchanged between his San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans on Friday night in Nashville.
Philips says it’s more likely going to be elbows and knees going back and forth. In other words, expect a physical matchup when the AFC West champion Chargers try to win their 10th straight game and lock up the No. 2 playoff seed against a Titans team barely alive in the playoff hunt.
The Chargers beat the Titans twice in 2007, once in a nasty regular-season game in Nashville and again in the playoffs in San Diego.
During the regular-season game, Shawne Merriman hurt a knee on what Phillips said was a cheap shot. Four players were fined a total of $32,000. Phillips was dinged $7,500 for a horse-collar tackle.
