ST. LOUIS (AP) -Pittsburgh Steelers running back Willie Parker, the NFL’s leading rusher, broke a bone in his lower right leg in the first quarter Thursday night against St. Louis.
Parker, who entered the game with 1,317 yards and consecutive 100-yard games, had one carry for a 1-yard loss before leaving the game.
It wasn’t clear how Parker was injured.
Najeh Davenport, who entered the game with 349 yards and a 4.9-yard average, replaced Parker in the lineup. Davenport had a season-best 65 yards on 12 carries in the first half and also caught two passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, helping the Steelers take a 24-17 lead.
