FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – Rex Ryan likes to say that this is the time of year the New York Jets’ all-weather offense is built for.
When rain, snow and frosty winds come in, they hit the ground running. With LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene in the backfield and temperatures dropping, it’s ground-and-pound time.
The Jets (9-3) led the NFL in rushing last season with a run-heavy offense. That’s changed a bit this year as Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer balanced the offense, letting Mark Sanchez throw more often.
With cold and rainy conditions expected Sunday at the Meadowlands when they play the Dolphins (6-6), it might be the perfect time to let Sanchez hand the ball off and watch his running backs make plays.
