FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots are preparing for a cold day in the Windy City.
Players wore head coverings under their helmets and long-sleeve shirts under their jerseys as the Patriots (10-2) practiced Friday for their game at the Chicago Bears (9-3). The temperature was in the low 20s in Foxborough but is expected to be colder, with the possibility of snow, on Sunday.
Several Patriots said they had played in the cold plenty of times and that both teams would compete in the same conditions.
Wide receiver Wes Welker joked that he would put himself in a refrigerator to prepare for the game. But he said the key is just to practice in cold conditions like those in Foxborough.
