FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots defensive backs spend plenty of time at practice catching balls and disguising coverages. It’s time very well spent.
Rookie Devin McCourty leads them with six interceptions. And New England is tied with Cleveland for the AFC lead with 18. That’s how many interceptions the Patriots had all last season.
But on Sunday, they face a quarterback who has thrown just three in his last five games and none in his last two. Chicago’s Jay Cutler is in the midst of his best stretch and has helped the Bears reach the top of the NFC North with a 9-3 record. The Patriots lead the AFC East at 10-2.
