SWINGS
Indianapolis’ first two TDs in its 28-25 win over Jacksonville came after replay challenges. The first came on the Jaguars’ opening possession when Robert Mathis sacked David Garrard and knocked the ball free. Officials first ruled Jacksonville recovered at its 11, but coach Tony Dungy appealed and referee Terry McAuley ruled the Colts’ Raheem Brock recovered. Two plays later, Peyton Manning threw a 5-yard TD pass to Dallas Clark. On the Colts’ next possession, officials ruled Ben Utecht fumbled. Dungy appealed, McAuley ruled it an incomplete pass, and on the next play, Manning threw a 48-yard TD pass to Reggie Wayne. … San Diego’s 24-10 win at Kansas City gave Norv Turner his first victory over the Chiefs in seven tries as a head coach.

RED-FACED REDSKINS
Buffalo’s Rian Lindell made a 51-yard attempt with 4 seconds left that didn’t count because Washington coach Joe Gibbs called timeout just as the ball was snapped. Gibbs then called another timeout as Lindell lined up a second time, but consecutive timeouts aren’t allowed at any time in the NFL – and they result in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when specifically called to freeze the kicker. The penalty gave Lindell a much easier kick, as he booted a 36-yarder to help the Bills win it 17-16.

Thomas Jones’ 1-yard touchdown run in New York’s 40-13 win at Miami was his first touchdown with the Jets. McNabb has been intercepted just six times in 326 attempts. … Oakland scored 24 points off four turnovers to snap a five-game losing streak to Denver with a 34-20 win. … Derek Anderson threw for 304 yards and had two touchdown tosses, but was intercepted twice and fumbled the ball away once in Cleveland’s 27-21 loss at Arizona. Two of the turnovers came on Cleveland’s first two possessions and led to touchdowns: Rod Hood’s 71-yard interception returned for a score, and Anderson’s fumbled snap led to Kurt Warner’s 5-yard TD pass to Leonard Pope.
