NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee quarterback Vince Young had his No. 10 jersey and shoulder pads off. He walked toward the tunnel and suddenly tossed both up into the stands to some lucky fan.
A few minutes later, he walked past reporters already dressed, ignoring both questions and his old college teammate who tried to talk to him after a 19-16 overtime loss to Washington on Sunday.
Titans coach Jeff Fisher says Young may have a torn flexor tendon in his right thumb and may need season-ending surgery. Either way, Fisher says rookie Rusty Smith now is Tennessee’s starter after the fifth-year veteran’s latest meltdown.
Young got his thumb taped and retaped on the sideline, trying to return. He even tried a glove, but Fisher stuck with Smith.
