FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -Kyle Wilson will be more involved in the New York Jets’ defense Sunday, working in the nickel and dime spots in the secondary.
It is a return to the rotation for Wilson, the Jets’ first-round pick whose playing time on defense decreased significantly after early season struggles. Coach Rex Ryan says Friday that Wilson is “back to being the guy we drafted,” and earned the right to play more.
Wilson picked up experience in the preseason while All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis sat out in a contract dispute. When the regular season started, though, Wilson appeared overmatched and Ryan thought he lost confidence.
Wilson says his confidence is the same as it has been, but he’s calmer now and ready to get defensive snaps again.
