ASHBURN, Va. (AP) – Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley will see a specialist after suffering a concussion in the team’s loss to Indianapolis.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Cooley will be evaluated over the next couple of days.
Shanahan says he isn’t certain when the injury occurred, but fellow tight end Fred Davis says Cooley took “a head shot” from a defender while running a pass route.
Teammates say Cooley kept trying to play after the injury, contrary to the NFL’s emphasis that head injuries should be treated with extra caution.
Shanahan says Cooley was just being a competitor and “probably didn’t think it was anything big.”
Linebacker Rocky McIntosh missed Sunday’s game after suffering a concussion a week earlier against Green Bay.
