JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -Authorities have arrested a man in the shooting of Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier that left him paralyzed below the waist.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Frank Mackesy said at a news conference that 32-year-old Tyrone Romaro Hartsfield was charged Saturday with attempted murder.
Police say Hartsfield wanted revenge after he and Collier fought in April outside a nightclub.
Collier was shot Sept. 2 while he and a friend waited outside an apartment complex. It could not immediately be determined whether Hartsfield had an attorney.
He is being held without bail in the Duval County Jail.
Officials at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not return phone messages seeking details. A message left with a Jaguars spokeswoman also was not immediately returned.
