CINCINNATI (AP) – Terrell Owens acknowledges that he violated the NFL’s rules against tweeting shortly before games.
The Bengals receiver sent out a tweet one hour before a loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday. He said on his new cable television show Tuesday night that “it’s cool” if he gets fined for breaking the rules. Teammate Chad Ochocinco was fined $25,000 for tweeting before and during a preseason game in August.
Owens would be only the second NFL player who violated the rule, which went into effect last season. Players and coaches aren’t allowed to use social networks 90 minutes before a game, during a game or immediately afterward.
The NFL is looking into the matter and hasn’t yet announced a fine.
