HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -Jets linebacker Cody Spencer was placed on the reserve-non-football illness list Tuesday, ending his season.
Spencer, in his fourth NFL season and second with New York, played in the season opener against New England but was inactive the last three weeks. He first appeared on the team’s injury report last Wednesday with an undisclosed illness.
The Jets do not discuss injuries or illnesses. Spencer’s agent, Mark Slough, referred questions about the linebacker’s situation back to the team.
Spencer was a sixth-round pick of Oakland in 2004 out of North Texas and signed with Tennessee later that season after the Raiders released him. Spencer signed with the Jets last year and has 40 special teams tackles in 36 career games.
