EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The New York Giants signed defensive end Dave Tollefson and placed fullback Robert Douglas on injured reserve Tuesday.
The move came two days after the Giants tied an NFL record with 12 sacks against Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb.
Osi Umenyiora had six sacks and fellow defensive ends Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan added two and one, respectively. Mathias Kiwanuka, a former defensive end now playing linebacker, had the other three sacks.
Tollefson was on the Oakland Raiders practice squad. He has no NFL regular-season experience. He was a seventh-round draft pick by Green Bay in 2006.
Douglas played against Washington on Sept. 23 in his only action this season. A knee injury landed him on injured reserve.
The Giants added offensive lineman Matt Lentz to their practice squad.
