BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Eric Mangini believes mistakes mask the winless Cleveland Browns’ overall progress.
The second-year coach is pleased with the team’s aggressive response to playing in a hostile environment in Baltimore on Sunday, but disappointed that penalties kept Cleveland from avoiding a 24-17 loss that dropped the Browns to 0-3.
Mangini says he wants the players “to understand the positives – and there were a lot of them – but to get the mistakes corrected.”
Mangini also praised the offensive line Monday for helping Peyton Hillis rush for 144 yards and protecting quarterback Seneca Wallace.
While upset that Eric Wright was burned by Baltimore’s Anquan Boldin for three touchdown passes, he said the cornerback is not in jeopardy of losing his job.
