MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Cornerback Cedric Griffin has returned to Minnesota’s starting lineup, eight months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Griffin missed the first two games, as did rookie cornerback Chris Cook due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. Cook was also on the active 45-man roster for Sunday’s game against Detroit, putting the Vikings at full strength in the secondary.
Safety Tyrell Johnson was a healthy scratch for the first time in his three-year career.
As expected, the Lions left three starters out: quarterback Matthew Stafford (shoulder), wide receiver Nate Burleson (ankle) and linebacker Zack Follett (concussion). Defensive end Cliff Avril (knee) and linebacker DeAndre Levy (groin) were in the lineup after missing the previous week.
