METAIRIE, La. (AP) – Drew Brees says the Saints’ offense has many ways to move the ball and score without Reggie Bush in the lineup.
Brees routinely distributes the ball to a wide range of players and says there’s no way for an opponent to anticipate whether other running backs, tight ends or receivers will get most of the balls that would normally go to Bush.
Atlanta coach Mike Smith offers a similar assessment of the way Brees runs the offense and says Bush’s injury doesn’t necessarily make it easier to plan for New Orleans’ offense.
Since Bush joined the Saints in 2006, New Orleans has gone 8-4 when he’s been unable to play.
Coach Sean Payton says Bush will wear a cast on his broken right leg and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
