METAIRIE, La. (AP) -Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey will be out three to six weeks because of sports hernia.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirmed to The Associated Press that Shockey was scheduled to undergo surgery this week.
Shockey played Sunday in the Saints’ 34-32 loss at Denver. He had five catches for 56 yards.
Shockey’s injury was first reported on the (New Orleans) Times-Picayune’s Web site. A sports hernia is the weakening of muscles or tendons in the lower abdominal wall.
