KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Matt Cassel isn’t on the Chiefs inactive list and could start against Oakland. He hasn’t played in a game since injuring his left knee Aug. 29.
Cassel was a game-time decision last week in the season opener at Baltimore, but was held out. He had been looking sharper in practice last week while wearing a brace.
Sunday’s game would be his first regular-season start since coming to Kansas City in a trade with New England and signing a six-year contract for a guaranteed $28 million.
Two of Cassel’s backups, Tyler Thigpen and Matt Gutierrez, were inactive. Thigpen was listed as the third quarterback.
For the Raiders, kick returner Nick Miller was inactive along with running back Justin Fargas.
