INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Andrew Luck threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Ahmad Bradshaw to give the Indianapolis Colts a 7-3 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles after one quarter on Monday night.
Bradshaw also had a 29-yard run on the 72-yard drive.
The Eagles, playing for the first time in Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium, then went on a big drive of their own.
Nick Foles found Darren Sproles for a 57-yard catch and run, giving Philadelphia a chance to reply. But Foles had back-to-back incomplete passes and Cody Parkey missed a 38-yard field-goal attempt.
On the Eagles’ first drive, Parkey kicked a 31-yard field goal to give Philadelphia the lead.
Indy played without two defensive starters. Robert Mathis tore an Achilles tendon in a workout a week ago while serving a four-game suspension, putting him out for the year. Starting linebacker Jerrell Freeman was inactive for Monday’s game with a hamstring injury.
A.Q. Shipley started at center for the second straight week in place of Khaled Holmes (ankle) and Jonotthan Harrison (right thumb).
The Eagles played without two starters on the offensive line who were injured last week. Right tackle Allen Barbre is recovering from an ankle injury and left guard Evan Mathis is on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Indy has won four of its last five home openers. The Eagles have won five straight road openers.
