FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – Don’t write off the New England Patriots so fast.
The New York Jets were a fashionable pick to win the AFC East championship that the Patriots won six of the last seven years. And New England ended last season badly with some mediocre play by Tom Brady, a knee injury to Wes Welker and a 33-14 playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
But Brady and Welker had big games as the Patriots won this season’s opener, 38-24 over the Cincinnati Bengals. And the Jets lost theirs 10-9 to the Ravens. But several Patriots players said they’re not getting carried away with the impressive victory heading into their next game.
On Sunday, the Patriots visit the Jets at New Meadowlands Stadium.
