FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis is the most notable inactive for New England in its season opener against Buffalo.
Green-Ellis rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the preseason, but the Patriots have a crowded backfield and the second-year player did not dress Monday night.
Also inactive for New England were wideouts Julian Edelman and Matthew Slater, cornerback Terrence Wheatley, offensive linemen Dan Connolly, Rich Orhnberger and Kendall Simmons, and defensive lineman Myron Pryor.
Buffalo sat out wide receiver Steve Johnson, defensive backs Ellis Lankster and Drayton Florence, linebacker Ashlee Palmer, tackle Kirk Chambers, tight end Derek Fine and defensive end Chris Ellis. Gibran Hamdan was the third quarterback.
