Donovan McNabb limped to the locker room with a cracked rib in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 38-10 rout of Carolina on Sunday.
A dominant performance by the Eagles was tempered by concerns about McNabb, who cracked a single rib when he was crunched by several defenders on his 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
He didn’t immediately get up after the touchdown, and was attended to by Eagles trainers before eventually leaving the field on his own.
“He’s sore right now. He’s got a broken rib,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll just see how he does over the next little bit.”
Reid wouldn’t rule out McNabb, who did not speak to reporters, from playing next week against New Orleans.
“Don is very resilient,” said running back Brian Westbrook, who caught one of McNabb’s two touchdown passes. “He heals fast.”
While he was on the ground, quarterback Michael Vick was captured on TV standing in a stadium suite to watch McNabb. Vick is suspended for the first two regular-season games to complete penalties for bankrolling a dogfighting ring.
McNabb was replaced by Kevin Kolb.
ackup quarterback Josh McCown was injured. McCown replaced Jake Delhomme, who was taken out after a miserable performance. McCown limped off with a left knee injury in the fourth quarter after he was sacked by Darren Howard.
The Seahawks lost two of their three starting linebackers when outside linebacker Leroy Hill and middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu left the game against St. Louis.
Hill, out with a groin injury, spent Seattle’s third defensive series of the first quarter on a training table getting his left leg checked by doctors.
Tatupu left in the third quarter with a hamstring injury, after Seattle had built a 21-0 lead.
New York Giants backup halfback Danny Ware dislocated his left elbow returning the opening kickoff against the Redskins.
Ware, the third back behind Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw, was hurt when he was tackled at the end of the 17-yard return. After being treated on the field, he walked to the locker room.
First-round draft pick Hakeem Nicks was on crutches late in the game after spraining his left foot in the fourth quarter. He had two catches for 18 yards.
Also, Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez strained a knee ligament against Jacksonville and did not return. Texans wide receiver Andre’ Davis had a concussion in the loss to the Jets. Saints starting left tackle Jermon Bushrod hurt his right leg in the second quarter. Bushrod, in his third season, was making his first NFL start because Jammal Brown has been sidelined for weeks by a sports hernia and hip injury.
