CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Carolina Panthers starting right tackle Jeff Otah acknowledges he’s had a setback in his recovery from two surgeries on his left knee and is still at least a couple weeks away from being able to play.
Otah first had surgery in December to repair torn cartilage, then had another arthroscopic procedure on Aug. 4 because of continued discomfort which kept him on the physically unable to perform list all preseason.
Otah said Thursday he may have pushed himself too hard running recently, leading to more pain. He says he’s upset, but hoping he’ll return in two to three weeks.
Geoff Schwartz is expected to start at right tackle in Sunday’s season opener at the New York Giants.
