NEW YORK (AP) -Running back Danny Woodhead has made the New York Jets’ 53-man roster after the team made its final cuts.
Fullback Jehuu Caulcrick and linebacker Kenwin Cummings are among the 19 players cut by coach Rex Ryan on Saturday. Wide receiver Aundrae Allison has been placed on injured reserve.
The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Woodhead made a strong case to make the team after running for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason finale against Philadelphia on Thursday night. Already a fan favorite, the former NCAA career rushing leader spent last season on injured reserve because of a knee injury.
Other notable cuts were: tight ends Kevin Brock, Kareem Brown and Jack Simmons, wide receiver Marcus Henry and offensive lineman Stanley Daniels.
