NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Saints tight end Billy Miller was helped off the field because of an apparent injury to his lower right leg during New Orleans’ preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.
Miller was unable to put any weight on his right leg after the injury, which occurred while he ran a pass route as quarterback Joey Harrington was being sacked. Sitting on a trainer’s table, he covered his face and was consoled by several teammates, including Jeremy Shockey and Reggie Bush.
Miller, in his 10th season, played in 15 games for the Saints in 2008, starting five. He had 45 catches for 579 yards and one touchdown.
The Saints’ only remaining healthy tight ends are Shockey, Buck Ortega and Martrez Milner.
