ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – A person familiar with negotiations has confirmed kicker Dan Carpenter is on his way to Buffalo for a shot at making the Bills.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity Monday evening because the team has not made an announcement.
ESPN.com first reported the Bills’ interest in Carpenter, noting it came after Buffalo’s rookie kicker Dustin Hopkins was hurt in practice earlier in the day.
Bills coach Doug Marrone did not announce Hopkins had been injured following practice. The Bills could not be reached for comment.
This is the latest twist in what’s been a hectic summer for Carpenter. The fifth-year player lost his job in Miami during training camp, and has since failed to land jobs with Arizona and the New York Jets.
